drop goes the drip coffee
You can say it, the r word.
The signs of recession are springing up everywhere.
Today I returned to a cafe where I've been trying to get a foot in for the past month.
Twice I've stopped in and, missing the elusive manager. left a resume and/or message; four times sent e-mails that went unanswered, standard these days.
So I gave it still another try, drove over, finally caught the guy. Says they just hired someone a couple weeks back. That sucks, I was bustin' my butt for a shot, so much for initiative.
He answers no, they won't be hiring more, even though now's normally their busy season due to the rain and gray, business is slowed.
Anyway, their tall roadside sign announces: "Recession cup of coffee 50¢, this week only." (That's .80 AUD)
It's starting, the slashing of prices for the dollars people don't have.

its getting a bit scary isn't it
even I turned to my husband last week and said - should we be getting worried about this? because I never worry about anything. I am an absolute true blue optimist. I don't so much worry for us, but for our kids.
