So another 3,000 are about to get the pink slip in Seattle, a result of Chase bank taking over WaMu (Washington Mutual), a major presence in the state.

I'm not in Seattle, neither do I care to be; however, it's up the road and those jobs cuts will be felt across the Sound.

Also in the economic line of fire is the 1.6 million square feet of office space occupied by WaMu -- good luck leasing that out, rental guys!! -- as well the nearby businesses, cafes, lunch spots nourished by WaMu's presence.

And the bad news just keeps on comin'. Every. Single. Day.

I understand why job seekers reach a point where they just. stop. looking.

I would like to be able to turn off the news now - it is getting scary.

Unfortunately, I think it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. ::sigh::

it scares me a lot too.... I hate feeling like we are living on a chopping block.

@Emjay - It is scary. Very scary. I stopped listening when the political crap got rolling; however, a drop or two filter in from the radio and that is plenty, especially if you or one you care for is jobless.
