*sits silent, filled with wonder* That's stunning. Really so special. Wow. Represents a lot of hard work, too, I'm sure.

I love so much of it, but my favorite is the CABINET. And the lions. And the windows!!

superb.

Wow!!! Wow, wow, wow. Ok, I'm completely stunned and drooling. Gorgeous work, you are justly proud. I have to say, it feels a tad cruel to be shown all this wonderfulness given that it's already taken...oh, and an entire continent away from me besides... *sigh* Still, a lovely tour. Thank you!
@RD - I wish I could convey the feeling that this apartment and building inspire. A kind of awe for the uniqueness and history and residents who have lived there proudly and the care and upkeep by their owner (my employer) and my own hands in a vital part of the town's history. Not to mention a few ghosts. :)
@IG - You're welcome! These apartments, because they're high-end with pricier rents, tend not to rent as quickly as their lower-end ones BUT tenants tend to stay here for years. What's wonderful for me personally is that because I work so meticulously and thoroughly, an apartment of this size can take an entire week to clean BUT I get to know every single nook and cranny so that I end up feeling not only intimately attached but like it's my home too, for a while. When I die, parts of my spirit will definitely remain here.

gorgeous - reminds me a bit of the house we just bought. The light fittings, floors, dark wood. Can't beat the old places

@Cat - For sure. They don't make things like they used to and home construction is no exception. I'd take an old fixer-upper with a quality foundation and structure over a modern cookie-cutter any day. Any day that I had money -- and oodles of it -- that is.

How beautiful and elegant !!! Thanks so much for the detailed guided tour. I feel so foo-foo now !! There are very similar looking buildings in University City, Missouri. I don't know what they look like inside.

How nice !!

@Beeeze - Glad you enjoyed the tour. They are nice. A little too nice sometimes, for I work in amazing buildings in the town's most character-rich neighborhood, then I go home and slum it.

Way too bad your employers don't provide a rent-free apartment as part of your compensation....

At least you get to work for people of character and in places of character....some food for the soul...

@Beeeze - Rent-free? That wouldn't be right. They need to make a living too and maintain their properties.

Even a very significant reduction in rate would be great. Here in St. Louis the property managers get to live in the properties....and a couple of the fulltime maintance people....

I totally understand if they can't to that....but it sure would be nice if that was a perk....

Of course...I just want the best for you !!

@Beeeze - They give an employee discount, you bet. At my income level, however, it is still out of reach. So I enjoy where I work and dream of perhaps renting from them one day ...
Simply gorgeous. Makes me homesick for the apartment I used to have in Lansdowne, PA. Gorgeous!
@RPM - You lived in a residence similar in PA?!
Thats an Apartment?! Good God! Thats the kind of apartment you'd expect some eccentric old confirmed bachelor university professor to inhabit. It's beautiful! Amazing! Holy Mattress Batman! =( I wants it!

It is Beautiful! That is even an understatement! I can imagine generations of children playing around the pillars, stunning building. If I were to ever live in an apartment, I want that one!
The druggies lived in a similar place? Yes, I can see the disconnect there.
@That girl - Funny you say that because this building and its twin get those very types -- professors, literary sorts, researchers, lawyers, entrepreneurs. There are only six apartments per building (or eight counting the basement), with each taking up half the building. Verrry time-consuming to clean but oh so beautiful when they're done well.

Wow a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing the photos, WB. I'd love to buy it... if I wasn't on the other coast. hehe
@LOIL - Several thou, give or take, will get you in through the door. When there's a vacancy. These apartments & buildings draw a very neighborly, sedate and mature crowd. Druggies pumpin' rap and smokin' the stuff at 3 a.m. didn't really blend in. ;)

Wow! Where is this place at? I <3 it!! ^_^
@Phoenix - In the nicest historic hood of Tacoma.
So much character and style. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.
I would not imagine so. I would however get on very well! That apartment is bigger than my house! NICE!
@Red Pen - They sure don't. That's one of many reasons why I love my job -- such quality in the buildings.
@Zen Ken - It's not for sale. Not that that changes a thing for you. ;p
I know. Still, an amazing house!

i just had about eleven orgasms.

so you're a house cleaner?

you've convinced me: i'm moving to tacoma. maybe the adjoining unit will become vacant. i can drug-dealing ho with the best of 'em.

@Zen Ken - an apartment, not a house, though it certainly feels like one sometimes!
@incoherent intoxicity - I work as the cleaner/gardener/jill-of-various-trades for a small, family-owned property mgmt. co. that owns a handful of historic properties in the historic pocket of town. These are not representative of Tacoma's usual properties by any means! If it's drug-dealing ho-ing you desire, I can point you toward the right neighborhood. ;p

What an awesome place!
The first state that comes to my mind is Washington. Is it Washington?
I haven't been to Washington in two years. It is very beautiful there.
@Catalina - Thanks. (even though it's not mine. ;) )
@Phoenix - Yup, Grit City, aka Tacoma, in WA state.
